I haven’t tried a water marble design since this post and tutorial video way back in summer 2013 so I decided to give the technique another go this week. Perhaps it is because I always wait so long between my attempts, but I consistently forget how messy water marbling can be! It looks great and it’s well worth a try, just remember to set up with a towel or paper towels close by, or directly under your water dish.
For this design I used Essie Bobbing for Baubles as my base and Zoya Jules and Ziv layered over top. If I was doing this navy and gold colour combination again I think I would switch out Jules for another polish. I found the formula to be too viscous to spread well in the water and the pigment insufficient to show well on the navy. Once I had the polish spread out in the dish I sprayed white vinegar from a spray bottle to break it up before dipping my finger in.
Let the long weekend-ing begin (if you’re in BC that is). Happy Family Day!
